Simplicity…it is kind of ironic that the word is rather long as far as words go; in fact, it is the longest word in this sentence. Seriously, am I odd for spending time thinking about such things, or do other people get haunted by inconsistencies like these? Simplicity, a word that is supposed to represent making things less complex, is complex itself. Why is no one else appalled by this?
OK, so my rant is not really about how we spell the word or how many letters are in it. The real issue that I have is how often we fail at making things simple. Even if we set out with that as the goal, the end result turns out to be a maze of complex procedures, policies, guidelines, and hierarchies.
