Ivan: You should block the wi-fi connection, only divide the place into to areas, one for drinking beverages and one for working on mobile devices! ;)

Hmm.. not sure how to push people to actually turn off their mobile devices, though...

Ivan: A solution could be to have different sections in the coffee place, divided with a Wi-Fi working area and "mobile free"place for coffee drinkers! ;)

Nice tip, Martin - I'm curious about how to block the Wi-Fi, though...

Ivan: It is up to the coffee place owner to decide the rules. Personally, I think you could have synergy effects from allowing the usage of mobile devices and drinking beverages at the same time! ;)

Indeed, there are 2 kinds of coffee shop: A hangout place and a hangout-slash-meeting-slash-workplace.

I'm interested in a testimonial of a coffee shop owner, saying that banning device and Internet is actually enhancing customers' meeting productivity.

Ivan: Regus is big player around the world. If you are interested in the third place concept, do a search on"coffee-houses" on The Economist.

Interesting - I just read this: http://www.economist.com/blogs/babbage/2010/08/coffeeshops_and_internet

Ivan: Do you have co-working and "third places" between your office & home, in your area?

Martin,

Yes we have. Not many local companies offer that, but Regus and some other International companies do have a presence here :)
