You are right about Slack. We use it for two of our podcasts as prep. for episodes. I liked IRC back in the day! ;)

Another tool you should look into is Mastodon social. Adan Curry and Dave Jones of Podcasting 2.0 are using this tool. I like the idea of it, but I have not got a hang of it yet. I have similar issues with the UX / UI of Mastodon as with Discord. It feels a bit like old school. ;)

Weirdly, Slack feels a bit old school to me as well. It reminds me of the old internet relay chat (IRC).
