Great article.
In a company I worked for there was a rumor about one of our products causing cancer. This was wrong of course but luckily we had what was then called a"crisis management" program in place so we could limit the damage and be proactive.
We did take a hit in sales but it would have been a lot worse without the program which the PR company developed with us.

Thanks! It was a fun one to write!
It sounds like a great and effective series of measures that your company took to stop the rumors, exactly the way a business needs to act to save the ship!
All the best,
