Whilst large international or national events are often too expensive for small businesses, there are hundreds of much smaller events that I would argue are as equally, if not more, effective as a marketing channel than their larger counterparts. Whether you are simply sponsoring an event, or also attend in some capacity (e.g. stand/ stall), you can use local events to create both breadth and depth of engagement.

How about online events? Have you tried sponsoring them and how effective was it to offline events? Take for example, blogger giveaways and etc.. compared to local fairs and etc..

I agree with this. Sponsoring a local event is way BETTER for a small business than go for the big leagues. I believe you can get more BANG for your BUCK!
