Adam: Thanks for your kind words! I will have a chat with folks at Alby in the near future, about a new feature they are planning.

All the Best,

Martin

Adam: The technical side is that it is built as a layer on top of the blockchain technology, and you could send directly micropayments in the form of bits of Bitcoin, called Satoshis. Very small fees, and you could send cents / pennies, if you want. The challenge regarding the music industry, is that you should have a system that could authorize the copyrighted material of the artist / musician.

I recommend you to check out Get Alby dot com for interesting information and value 4 value dot info. I will create some special episodes on value for value and the podcasting 2.0 initiative in the near future.

All the Best,

Martin

Thanks for the fantastic explanation, Martin. Gives me a much better idea of how this works & thanks for mentioning that resource. Will check it out if I can find some time later.

Adam: Thanks for the information. The folks involved in the Podcasting 2.0 initiative are looking into the possibilities with the namespace tag feature in the RSS feed and the opportunity to send micropayments directly to artists and musicians. Think if you could send a token of appreciation for a song and name your price?

All the Best,

Martin

That would be very good if it could be done! I don’t really understand the technical side of it but it presents some great opportunities if it can be done!

Adam: I am Apple fan, but I am critical to how they handle the RSS space and the former iTunes system. You are right that Spotify has a "low artist payout." That is one reason why I do not use Spotify. I did not know about Idagio. I like classical music, especially romantic realism, so I have to check out this service. Could you listen online, or is only on a smartphone?

All the Best,

Martin

Idagio was a new one for me as well. I believe they have apps for Android and iOS but I'm not 100% sure as I didn't write this post - a quick search should be able to confirm. Very interesting to see platforms focus on specific genres.
