I read an article about Tony Bennett on the weekend. At the young age of 85 he appears to be thriving in his career and enjoying his life.According to the article this success has not always been the case and here are a few marketing lessons we can learn from him and his career:

Hi Susan.

He's so popular now, that Alec Baldwin has done impressions of him on Saturday Night Live - a couple years ago near Christmas, and in the XXXVIIth season opener just this past Saturday. The impressions are very good - and hilarious. In fact, the real Tony Bennett joined Alec (as Tony) with Christina Aguilera in a Christmas trio, and Alec (as Tony) interviewed Tony (as guest Tony Benedetto - his real name) on "The Tony Bennett Talk Show". Funny stuff - the impression was so good it was hard to keep track.

Ha! - Susan - the Betty White SNL from Mother's Day (May) 2010 was unquestionably their single best show in at least a decade. Every bit was great (the musical guest didn't fit, but every comedy bit succeeded).

Hi Duncan,

It is great to see age being no barrier and I was originally going to include Betty White who at 88 is the oldest to host SNL and has just released a rap song.

Fabulous post Susan!

I really admire Tony Bennett in that he’s not afraid to stamp his mark on new ground, while keeping true to what he does best.

There’s some great lessons in here for all of us. Wasn’t aware of his sons involvement.

Thanks Jackie and you right about breaking new ground. His story also showed you can be much better when you include others.
