This video from buildamovement.com looks at small business branding particularly for companies under five employees. Certainly, branding has long been an establish approach for big business and multinational corporations, but branding can also be an important issue for small growing businesses. Perhaps the most interesting point in the video is that branding is not a communications strategy but a business strategy. In other words, branding has more to do with what you do than on what you say. If your company's branding, the impression you create of your business in the community, isn't what you would like it to be, take heart. There's always time to make a change.

Is that the definitive book on personal branding? It seems like this idea has become so much the rage that it's hard to figure out who coined it or where it came from. I have to admit I have only a limited interest in the whole idea of personal branding because it seems to imply that you must choose one thing or a small collection of things to be known for, hardly a good idea at a time when specialization is on the decline. Of course, you can't be everything to everyone but you certainly might want to stake out more than one niche and I'm not sure how compatible this is with the idea of personal branding.
