Your post really highlights the need for small business owners to get feedback- whether it's from a mentor, employees, customers, or a hired professional, since, like you said, it's very hard for a person to not see things through his or her own preferences.

Good point about including employees and mentors in the feedback. It also takes the pressure off the small business owner when making the important decisions.

The thing is if we base our judgements on personal preferences alone it can be wrong for our brands. I had fun with a lot of brands in my past life as a marketer and found it is not only the colours but the shades of colour. Can be a little complicated at times.

It seems logical that our preferences can seep into marketing decisions as well as our opinions, biases and personal feelings. The part about the colors can certainly have consequences which I never really thought of. Colors do in fact have meanings and temperments and as you state the ability to turn on and turn off people.
