The New York Times creates a video series about small business in recession. Despite reports that the recession may be easing, these businesses are still hurting and its hard to say whether some, including a New York movie tourism service (talk about a niche), a bicycle manufacturer largely serving the decimated automotive industry and a New York butcher shop, are in trouble only because of the economic downturn or also due to major changes in the economy that will remain changed even as world markets emerge from recession. Anyway, as a cautionary tale that we're not out of the woods yet, the series gives a perspective of how small business has changed, in some cases perhaps forever.
