Number of Inbound Links is less important..?

Hi Kinanti, so it's not so much a numbers game(the websites with the most links wins). Sites with the most relevant, authoritative backlinks and that provide a great user experience are likely to receive more visibility in Google Search. This isn't saying inbound links aren't important, but quality trumps quantity.

Brian: I think that DuckDuckGo will be an upcoming player on the search engine market, due to all the talk about cookies, personal integrity and privacy matter.

Brian: Thanks for your input!

Personally, I am all for organic SEO, by building quality content.

What kind of SEO factors are Bing / Yahoo! and DuckDuckGo look into?

Another good question. I'm not too familiar with DuckDuckGo or the algorithm that it uses to display search results. For Bing/Yahoo quality content, social signals, and quality and number of backlinks all seem to correlate with higher search visibility.

Why is the number of incoming links not so important nowadays? Are the days of the PageRank gone?

Great question! Google still relies heavily on the link graph to evaluate the reputation and trust of websites. With that being said, it's not a numbers game and quality (authority, relevance) is more important that quantity of backlinks (of course, having both is great).

Google deprecated the PageRank toolbar, (although I'm sure PageRank is still used to some degree by Google)to encourage marketers and business owners to place less emphasis on these metrics and to focus more on the visitor experience.
