This is a decent article that contains the pluses and minuses of using e-mail as a marketing tool. My company's experience says to think of e-mail as "costing" as much or more as postal mail. Our advice: 1) Use a professional e-mail marketing service (there are several really good ones) 2) select and customize a nice template that is in line with your corporate identity 3) use sparingly, like saffron! Nobody ever annoyed someone into buying with e-mail 4) compose carefully! Think "why do I need to know this?" when writing to your potential customers. Good Luck!
