Whilst it’s great to see more companies embracing content, it’s also frustrating to see content being produced for content’s sake or self-promotional sales material being touted as content marketing.

Brilliant post Sarah - you have put into words exactly what I've been thinking for a long time. Of course everyone is out there to promote themselves or their business but do it in a helpful way rather than in your face sales spiel. I switch off from promotional posts straight away - and I'm reading lots of posts daily. But it seems people will never learn.

I don't see anything wrong with self-promotion. As long as all of your content doesn't sing the praises of your own work and truly exhibits your creditably and how you can help potential clients. It should be done in a way that over delivers on value but at the same time shows that you know your stuff and are worth listening too. Case studies of your work are great ways to do both, which is what I do. Thanks for sharing your insights with us.
