I've read several articles and blog posts about this subject recently - JC Penney has recently been Googlesmacked for some of the black hat link tactics you describe. But I'm taking away the positive side of organic linkbuilding. You stood out by clearly detailing link techniques and search engine parameters that never occurred to me. I didn't really need this information in the past, but I will in the near future -- thanks so much for adding to my store of SEO knowledge!
