You made a REALLY great point here. In the past, even I have been guilty of seeking out blogs that pay you to guest post and while that is a good option to get quick upfront money, that shouldn't be your only aim.
Exposure is WAY more valuable to me. Guest posting is meant to be a long-term promotional method. Not only does is help you to get more exposure and increase traffic, it also helps to forge relationships with peers in your niche. And those relationships you build is where the real value is.
I'm glad you're aware of this and this post is definitely needed to help others to become aware of this as well. I'll be sure to share it with my social circle.

I think the biggest issue is that people equate guest blogging with "writing for free". OK, so the odds of you getting a site owner to pay you for your guest post are slim. However, if your post generates more traffic and sales, you're definitely NOT "writing for free"!
