How much money does your company spend in the pursuit of making money? It might sound like a silly, circular question, but it gets to the heart of an important issue for any small business. You have to spend money to make money, yes, but spend too much and you erase your profit margins. And what’s the easiest way to spend more than you earn? By not tracking what you spend.

I'm all about cutting costs, Joe. I try to re-evaluate where my biz monies are going every month and make cuts wherever necessary. I also try to employ as many free things as possible, especially ones that are going to benefit me and my brand in more than one area of my business. That way I don't feel like I'm wasting time by not outsourcing it.

Thanks to Sian for sharing your insights with our bizsugar community.

Joe Pawlikowski: I have worked as a cost analyst at a manufacturing company, so your post peeked my interest. I will bookmark and revert to you in the near future. I want to discuss an idea with you regarding supply chain management and new media.
