Sales is competition. Someone wins the business and everybody else loses. It’s a rough and tumble game. To win, you have to love a good fight.

p.p.s.: Manny was "Fighting Above His Weight" (one of your article titles). Fight night weight: Manny Pacquiao 148#, Antonio Margarito 165#.

As to a general life rule, Heidi's exactly right - you have to pick your battles. I sadly witnessed many co-workers who'd fight with management for a minor cause that they stood No Chance of winning. All they did was alienate management. I tried to dissuade them, but they had to learn the hard way (if indeed they ever learned).

anthony, I love the post but have one addition. We can't fight every fight. Learning which ones to take part in is very important!

p.s. Perfect Analogy! In a tough fight between well-matched opponents, usually the one who wants it more prevails.

I'm going to go waaay out on a limb and say that it's no accident that this article is posted right before the Manny Pacquiao - Antonio Margarito fight, the biggest fight this year. If Manny wins, he'll be the 1st man in history to hold belts in 8 weight divisions. He's already the only man in history to have 7!
