Determinism vs. Free will

One side, The Determinists, said that your sense of “Free will” is a mere illusion; that your fate is governed by the all-powerful, but invisible, hand of God/ fate/ chance/ social conditioning/ or genetic code. You are not responsible for how your life turns out.

On the opposing side: the Advocates of Free Will say that nobody controls your thoughts but you. And since only you control your thoughts, then you control your actions; and therefore you are responsible for the consequences of those actions, whether they are pleasurable or painful; i.e. the fact is that; you are guided by you. You are responsible for how your life turns out.
