Defeat generally is a huge blow to one’s sense of worth. After a defeat, most of us will have trouble to keep going with enthusiasm and energy.

If you set objectives you must accept the risk that you may fail to attain the desired outcome. When this happens, how do you cope with it makes the difference!

I am "falling forward" all the time! ;) I wrote a post on this topic in 2009 on Open Forum: Five Lessons Learned from my Start-up — And why I’d Do it Again. http://www.openforum.com/idea-hub/topics/managing/article/five-lessons-learned-from-my-start-up-and-why-id-do-it-again-1/

Business is a series of ups and downs. Some years may be bad , but they do not stay forever. But every entrepreneur knows that problems and challenges are just lessons waiting to be learned. The important thing is to have a never -say-die outlook and to refrain from using the losers language. Entrepreneurs who have the ability to bounce back after every failure usually make it to the top.

Hi Heather! Thanks for your comment. that is very true. Unfortunately I see a lot of business owners who do not try even small new things just because they are afraid of failure.

Hi Bernd! The ability to deal with failure and keep moving despite set backs is what separates successful business owners from less successful ones...because all successful business owners have experienced their share of failure.
