Blog writing isn’t the easiest of things to master. It’s a process of learning that is continual – it never ends. Just when you think your writing is better, someone will come along with several more suggestions to improve it further. This isn’t such a bad thing.

Take me for example. My writing is far from perfect, especially here on my own blog where I only have myself to answer to. There’s many a post I’ve had to go back through and edit several times to polish it up. There’s always a sentence I can shorten or a paragraph to clean up.

Stacey: Thanks for your reply. I agree that you should have goal with your blog, but first start with your "why". I started with blogging in 2002 as a reaction to the news reporting on the so-called war on terror. My first blog is the answer to "life, universe and everything" (paraphrasing The Hitchhicker's Guide to The Galaxy), with post on philosophy, cats, chile-peppers, etc.

Stacey Corrin: Thanks for proving these tips on how to write and blog in an easy way. How long time have been blogging? What do you think a small business owner should think about when he / she is starting a blog?

Hey thanks for taking the time to comment!

I’ve been blogging for near four years now on and off and in different incarnations. However I’ve only been blogging here for the last four months.

To answer your questions regarding small business owners:

I would suggest they first consider the overall goal they’d like to meet with their blog. For example, do they want to generate some passive income? Will they be using a blog to generate more leads and clients, or will the blog be an extension of the business, to provide updates to their established community?

With a solid goal in mind, it’s then much easier to plan a strategy around the types of content they’ll be writing. They can then focus on creating that content and making it as valuable to their readers as they possibly can, while still moving toward their end goal.

I hope this answers your question. Feel free to drop me email if you’d like to know anything else.
