During a discussion with a leadership coaching client recently she asked if it was possible to improve the sales leadership skills of her sales manager. It was an interesting question to come from the owner, but I knew from our diagnostic review that she had a concern on her sales process.

So true about the difference in talents. Being able to sell does not a great manager make. It's also possible that no one explained to this fellow the difference between making sales and leading a sales team. Or that he never found a way to make the transition. There are also examples of people who possess not only the talent to do a task, but the ability to coach others in developing similar talents. The ability to make that transition is another huge issue.
