It’s been a long time since I’ve talked about Google Plus here at Inspire to Thrive. I have been reading many posts of how your blog or website can be found on page 1 of Google in the search results by hitting the Google Plus button more often and interacting with others. Are you using the Google plus button in your social sharing today? Read on and learn why it can be beneficial for your blog or website and how to improve using Google+ for 2014. It sure may beat using Facebook with their recent algorithm changes and no one seeing all your posts anymore.

Lisa: Thank for your nice reply! I know that Google+ and Gmail is not the same, but they are heavily linked together. I think that stats could me "muddled" with that you got a Google+ activity due to some activity with email, +1:ed on posts, etc.

Please tell me if you want to test out hangout at some point in time! :)

Heather & Lisa: I have been thinking of this too. Take Guy Kawasaki as an example. He is using Google+ to the max both on a professional and personal level. I think that we should take the # of Google+ users with a grain of salt, due to the fact that if you have a Gmail account, aren't you having an Google+ account too? I started out to use Google+ and +1 feature as a bookmarking service. Using the +1 button will have an impact on the search results. The question is: will Google+ be as ingrained in your the daily life as Facebook in the long run?

I want to test out the Hangout feature more.

Hi Lyceum, having a gmail account is not the same as having a Google+ account. You have to set it up with a profile, etc. And of course participate! I hope to use the hangout feature more in 2014 myself. I think it may become ingrained to many as Facebook has. Excellent points!

Lisa,

I've read the same things...and have seen them for myself! There's no doubt posts on Google Plus have serious search juice. Something that's not talked about as often is the fact that Google Plus members can often be much more responsive and more interested in the posts of those with whom they connect. Could this have to do with the relatively smaller Google Plus audience, when compared to Facebook? Are there just more distraction on Facebook? Maybe. I don't know if there have been any studies on the "social" power of Google Plus when compared with Facebook, but there ought to be. Google seems to want to focus on the impact it has on search.

Thanks Heather, that is a good point about a smaller audience. I also thing the audience is more SEO and tech type of people. I agree on the point about search. That would be a good topic to research, you got me thinking, thank you again! Have a Happy New Year too!
