I think the reality is that there is only really a conflict of interest when there is full transparency. If I hire you to handle my social media for me, it doesn't mean you have to pretend to be me. You can post on my Facebook or LinkedIn site. (Hi. I'm Katie and I handle social media for Mr. Hessinger.) You get the idea. I think the idea that a sizable small business can't have someone blogging or doing social media for them is kind of silly. You might hire someone to answer your phone or sell your product. Is that a conflict of interest? Than neither is hiring someone to help you with social media.
