Social Media is not a website. It’s not something you set up and leave, just attracting traffic to it. I see it lots of times and feel it’s such a waste. Unfortunately it’s mainly because people don’t understand what to do with Twitter and Facebook. How many of us did when we first started?

I've found that it's good to remember the 80/20 rule when it comes to Facebook pages: 80% business and 20% personal. Post photos on your page whenever possible since they get shared the most, and it will help your page reach a wider audience.

Social media is just a lot of work. Plain and simple. If you use it for marketing, I would argue it takes even longer than if it is simply a networking effort. Either way, be prepared to spend the time. This is why some business delegate the task or outsource it, especially if it is far away from their core business. It will work, but it will cost you. If not in money than in time.
