Hey, who you callin' an idiot?! Just kidding. Actually, the effectiveness of LinkedIn is very underrated compared to the great and powerful FB with probably the latter's advantage being the sheer number of people using it. In particular for B2B applications, however, I find LinkedIn has many more benefits. Oh, one tool I would add in your overview is the "update" feature which, like similar features on Facebook and Twitter, share your status with your entire network. Updating regularly, including the sharing of links, is recommended, especially once you have a respectable following.

Ha, ha...no worries Shawn, the Flying Pig definition of 'idiot' is 'one who constantly searches to know more' :) Good addition with the status updating, and it is often forgotten! I know I am personally at fault of overlooking LinkedIn and am going to try to make it a personal goal to explore it more this month...so expect many more posts on the subject :)
