I find a lot of people have put off really "getting to know" Google+. I'm one of them. I have an account and use it on occasion, but have put off learning the ins and outs of how to get the most our of it. Your post definitely fills in all of the gaps, thanks.

personally, I'm not a big fan of Google Plus yet since most of the users/audience in my location are more on Facebook and Twitter. I don't even know if they use Linkedin or Pinterest.

Thanks so much for sharing this post with the BizSugar community. One of the biggest benefits I've seen with Google Plus is that the posts seem to rank very well on the Google search engine...as do the posts on your own site that you share. Has this been your impression as well? Thanks to Reginald Chan for sharing his experience with Google Plus over on BizSugar. Brian, if you have any further thoughts on the SEO benefits of using Google Plus, I'd love if you could share them in the comment section of the BizSugar community where all our members could benefit.

To me it makes sense that there is a correlation between great content and a high number of shares. I believe +1s, shares and other social signals indirectly contribute to better performance in organic search by increasing the visibility of the article which may lead to an increase in inbound links which could contribute to higher search rankings.
My experience is that Google+ is a fantastic social network and a great relationship building tool. While I haven't noticed a direct correlation with articles I've published that received high engagement on the network, the sharing does increase the visibility of the post on the network which leads to more relationship building opportunities.
The largest opportunity I see on Google+ for higher search rankings is with personalized search. The more relationships you build and the more users that have you in circles will increase the chances of your posts showing up in their logged-in search results.
