Wow, Rachel! That's quite a statistic! Online data will increase 500 percent by 2020? Unreal! Just think of the competition your blog posts and tweets will face by then! What's your personal feeling about the kinds of content we'll need to stand out from the crowd in a future of such dramatically increased volume?

The bit about pay to play -- especially on Facebook -- is certainly out there and being discussed. But in a sense, even this doesn't guarantee visibility. At least, it doesn't guarantee the kind of visibility that will necessarily edge out your competition who will inherently be doing the same thing. So -- though it's not popular to say -- I think there's also the same old marketing need to do what it takes to stand out from the pack and do something different. Just my two cents, but it's the one thing in marketing that may never change.

It is startling, the amount of content that will continue to increase on the web! Personally, I think integration is key. Partnerships and creative campaigns to leverage not only social media but traditional media, as well.

As content grows, we will need to spend a few dollars to have our message heard, as well. This is non-negotiable on Facebook, especially.

Overall, remember to humanize. We have the best shot at reach another person, by - well - being a person.
