In 2012, crowdfunding for entrepreneurs / startups rose to a whole new level. This latest update from Kickstarter, 1 of today’s 700+ global crowdfunding sites/platforms, gives some food for thought. The US JOBS Act, going into effect this year, will change how small businesses raise capital.

Jenny: What's your favorite type of tea? You could follow my ongoing progress at GOT-Tea-Party.com. I have also set up two new sites: teaFTW.com and Tea53.com.

Thanks, I'll check out your sites.

My favorite tea? Earl Grey right now, but it changes from time to time. :)

Jenny,

"Do you see a way to leverage crowdfunding – directly or indirectly – for your business / venture / startup? If not, why not? If yes, how?"

I want to kick start my new personalized tea business with the help of crowdfunding. I want to test it on my passion and see if a hobby could turn into a small business.

"Have you invested – are you a “presumer”? How was/is your experience? What dos and don’ts would you share with other potential investors?"

I have invested in a deli snacks projects via a site called FundedByMe. I am still waiting for the snacks, but I have a good contact with person who started it.

That's great, Lyceum. Tea is my favorite cuppa too. I'm really curious how you will get on with it - do let us know if you'll be posting your ongoing progress somewhere we can follow along.

And I was not aware of "FundeddByMe" - will check them out.

Thanks for the responses. Much appreciated.
