Yahoo's CTO (Chief Technology Officer) is on record as saying that Yahoo wants to buy some startups, especially social media and smartphone application companies.
But would that be a good thing for the startups? Or would it be the beginning of the end?

Actually, this is a story that I've seen repeated over and over. Big company buys young promising nimble startup, hoping to capture some of the magic.
