A group of hopeful entrepreneurs were grilling Steve Jobs and Bill Gates about how they achieved their success. When one young man took the microphone and directly asked Jobs for his one piece of advice, Apple’s CEO included this gem:

“Any rational person would give up.”

The genius of Steve Jobs was to not follow the crowd and not pushing the boundary by working against conventional wisdom in many cases. Most investors we admire today were dismissed as crazies at some point in their careers. They did not care for the society's endorsement, however, and went on to invent great things.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to find these types of "crazies" in the society, but those who continue contribute a great deal to mankind.

I don't think Steve Jobs meant crazy as in having irrational ideas. If he would practiced that he and the company would have gone under in a heartbeat.

Steve Jobs was definitely crazy for having agreed to lead the same company that ousted him. But I guess he was crazy in love with Apple. I think crazy ideas coupled with a good talk can go a long way and probably create the next big thing.
