Shawn,

That is so true, what we would not trust or be suspicious of in the brick and mortar world we think nothing of in the on-line world. The internet and the speed at which we do things had become second nature and like most things in business we are so busy handling the growth activities of our business that we forget to also take reasonable precautions to protect what we have and are continuing to build.

Thanks for the input Shawn!

Hi Sean,

You are 100 percent correct about the lack of awareness among small businesses operating online. Sadly this is the case with many people who do their banking, pay bills and engage in other activities online as well. Fact is, just a few years ago many people had a fear of being involved in the online world. Unfortunately, this was largely in the form of irrational fears about privacy that had to do with peoples' unwillingness to use the simplest of common sense safety practices. How far we have come! Today, doing business, shopping and doing many other things online is second nature. What hasn't changed, however, is the lack of awareness needed to take a few simple safety precautions to protect you and your business online. Would you do business offline without taking steps to protect you and your business? Then why do so online? Thanks for the great post!
