Before you try inventing something new, try clearing your company of all the old clutter that inhibits clear thinking.

Great post from Anita. I think in a lot of businesses it can be difficult to see what steps are unnecessary when you start out. Certainly there are things you are doing that don't need to be done as you're looking for the most profitable way to run your business. Once you've figured out how things work a bit better, you can back up and start asking yourself what inefficiencies you could eliminate to make things run more smoothly.

Have you read the The 80/20 Principle: The Secret of Achieving More with Less by Richard Koch? I have worked at company that handed out this book to everyone at the office. I am fascinated with the teachings of Vilfredo Pareto and his principle of factor sparsity.
