Skype - Security and Privacy
"Nothing new here except the vehicle, Sean - as a wee lad half a century ago, my Dad used to tell me about J. Edgar Hoover's peccadilloes - how he had dossiers on everyone, listened-in on all our phone calls, etc. Was my Dad generally a 'conspiracy' guy?- no. No one then knew Hoover's other peccadilloes - dressing in women's clothing for fun. Duncan"Skype - Security and Privacy
"He secretly cross-dressed while amassing all the dirt he could on everyone in the country - especially if they were influential*. It's the hypocrisy, not the act itself. (What did he look like in a dress - a demented Aint Bee??) *In the old, repressed days (the 'Golden' era of the 40's, 50's, & early '60's), the KGB, FBI, and CIA used this dirt to force people into spying against their will - in our more open society, it's harder for them to apply pressure."What Are You Unlearning?
"Hi Anthony. The best offensive-minded Boxers (not defensive greats like pre-sanction Ali, Pernell Whitaker, etc.) learn to seemingly effortlessly slip punches - not Aikido's redirection of force (no holds allowed), but Boxing's equivalent. Roberto Duran is an example of a slugger who was great at slipping - he fought till he was 50, and only stopped then due to injuries suffered in a crash. If you just glance, you don't see him slipping on TV, but he's an acknowledged master. Duncan"10 Growth Cities Small Business Owners Should Know About
"Hi Rieva. I don't see how Cleveland squeaked in at #51. The population has been falling for decades - 50 years ago it topped 900k (never a million, 1 of the criteria). In the last census it fell below 400k. People are leaving in droves - even then the job situation is bleak. Police & fire still have the same geography to cover, just no resources to be able to manage it - the tax base is too small. Maybe #5100? Duncan"Should You Accept Guest Blog Submissions?
"Hi Nick. I'm occasionally surprised by some of the guest posts I've seen - the overall quality was OK, but some of them had questionable material (or motives) - one, on a Very respectable blog, was quite offensive. I couldn't understand why these posts were allowed on in the 1st place, since it definitely reflected badly on the host. Not only was I Not interested in the guest, but now (and maybe forever) I question the host's judgment. Duncan"How can you have better meetings?
"Hi Chris. As an employee, the only good thing about forced meetings was lunch, and the co-workers making faces at each other while the supe' blathered on endlessly. Our 'Fearless Leader' was so reviled, she had to force a meeting in order to have a Christmas party. She was the only one we didn't want there! Duncan"Subscribe
Google Plus and Author Rank
"Interesting, Jackie. If Author Rank becomes the state of the art, I suspect we'll still see an endless stream of backlink articles (how it's still the greatest thing ever invented), and we'll still be getting the crappy spams of how we can get 10's of 1,000's of links to shady offshore 'directories', gambling, drug & porno sites, and the like. The reality may change, the spam & advice will take years to catch up. Duncan"
