Even though customer service has been overlooked by many businesses in the past, one thing that I have seen from the old school way of doing customer service is the representatives are very micro-managed. Some will say that is the only way to run a customer service department, especially your call center, but I think the ones that benefit the most are the companies that give their customer service reps the freedom to do right by the customer and not be restricted by what a manager requires or the must follow policies and procedures.
