Interesting, Joseph, and you have just described the reason for the formation of gangs in modern society. No one was home in U.S. urban areas during WWII to raise the kids, and they formed gangs because it was too difficult emotionally to go it alone - their only strength came when they're surrounded by their cohorts. Alone, they're cowards.
