When I finished school I worked in a factory for a few weeks before going to university. I made a game of each shift to overcome the boredom and heat and thinking about the experience here are a few marketing lessons I learnt.

I worked in an apple orchard when I was in high school. My job was to pick up a 5 lb. bag of apples, spin it, and put a staple in the top of the bag. I, too, made a game out of it. I also plotted a way to get to university so I didn’t have to spend my life “working on the line”. (I’m from Detroit so that was a very real possibility!) You’re right, there were many valuable marketing lessons to be had, too. Great post.

Awesome post!!!
Firstly, your great choice of picture set the mood instantly. I love these stories of humble beginnings and first jobs. Mine was pumping gas at a huge service plaza where the smell of diesel fuel remains in my nose even today.
Great lessons gleaned from your factory days! I thoroughly enjoyed!
