Earlier this week I gave a presentation on the intersection of SEO, online PR and social media to a great mix of people (mostly agencies) at a SEMPO Arizona event. The SEO/PR/Social topic is an interesting mix due to the convergence that's been happening over the past 2-3 years and of course, because it's the essence of what we've been doing at TopRank.

Sounds more like a collision to me! Look, PR, social marketing and SEO are all still in a state of flux. Don't generate PR just because you have a PR person. Look at each situation individually to see what marketing works for you.

You'd better believe that they are already intersecting. The most valuable part of your press release may be the link to your site. Your Twitter profile can be ranked on the first page for your brand name. Getting picked up by Digg can bring more traffic in one day than you've had all quarter. If your strategy doesn't include all these components it's not a very good strategy.
