Yep, I've seen many a PowerPoint presentation posted in video form and lots of people seem to be using this format for video only product too. Another option for a tutorial is just a screen shot application like CamStudio which records what you do on screen and can later be edited together with audio to make a great tutorial video.

I've never tried CamStudio, but I have used sites like Screen-o-matic.com for screencapture. Definitely good tool as well.
