I agree that trying to find something unique and nichy is a good idea. Finding something controversial and "That no one would ever want to buy" seems like an extraordinary waste of time and money. Sure, as you said, you might get publicity, but I'm just not sure if getting the label of "quack" is going to help anybody's reputation. Interesting thesis though!
