I tell all my clients to NEVER use their primary residence as collateral for business loans -no matter how great the opportunity. There are many ways to fund good business startups as you detail in your article such as peer to peer, merchant cash advance and lines of credit. I used invoice factoring for a large order in manufacturing business to buy materials to produce the goods.
