Another advantage of using OpenOffice.org that was not mentioned in the article is that you can open, edit and save documents in MS Office formats as well. In fact, I've used OpenOffice.org to open newer Word documents that older versions of MS Office couldn't open. It is freely distributable so you can install it on multiple workstations in an office without licensing issues. There are also a lot of tutorials available for OpenOffice.org online, so the learning curve is not steep.
