It's really a very good question, Dave, and especially one I think a lot of small business owners should ask themselves too. Many may be unfamiliar with selling when starting out. Perhaps they have a strength in another area like creating their product or service. Maybe they just have no prior sales experience but now must get involved in selling in the early days of their business because often in the beginning you have to handle everything yourself. Whatever the reason, I think it's helpful to look beyond the techniques of sales to the simple human interaction.
