There are some positions where commission-only structure makes sense. There are some salespeople for whom a commission-only pay structure makes sense. They are few.

It seems a lot of people are shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to sales and customer relations... Sadly, it's a situation that will probably get worse before there's enough backlash for it to get better since so many businesses and so many people are financially under pressure these days.
It's hard to keep your priorities straight when you have a hard time paying your bills.
