Chris H: The quote request sounds like a very good idea. I think however that it would best be done by getting back to the prospective client immediately. I have requested quotes from other businesspeople with such a form. The problem is it has taken them 24-36 hours to get back to me. During that 24-36 I am contacting others instead of waiting around and probably closing a deal. Customers don't want to wait and they shouldn't. They would rather speak with a human and get a great price immediately.

I may have missed this in the post, but a Request for Quote or pricing may not work for everyone. There are some businesses where the sell cycle is complex and in that case, it's just easier to have a way for someone to connect with you on your website.

There is a good service at www.edit.com that can help people out with this.
