Gotta take exception with this one, respectfully of course. Certainly failure can be attributed to external factors: the economy, social conditions, timing, illness, fraud, misappropriation, lousing up by partners, etc., etc., etc.

Attributing failure only to oneself is a recipe for unhealthy self-blame.
