Very nice post and a great analogy between marriage and a business relationship. (Congrats to you and Rivkah, by the way.) It might be added that, like a relationship that may result in marriage, relationships with key clients evolve slowly over time. When we think about long term key clients, those who we may eventually work with repeatedly and in much greater capacity, the relationship may start slowly with a few products or services or the occasional order or assignment as both sides feel each other out and gain trust. As things develop, a much more committed relationship may evolve, one in which a client prefers to work with you over other similar providers and may come to you exclusively for more and moire services.

Seriously though. Really good points. I'm not really a people person. Even though I would move mountains to make sure that a client is successful, I really don't like making those phone calls and the little bits of communication that keeps the client happy and confident and builds a relationship. So important (and I am soooo bad at it).
Happy anniversary
