I’ll admit it… when I first heard about Google + I was hoping that it would just go away. After all my time is already stretched to the limits, how can I commit to another social network? Honestly, the first week it was out I ignored it, hoping it would flop so we could all just move on.

Anyone can follow you - but you don't have to let them see any of your updates. You get to choose who views what. And you don't have to add people in return - so you actually have more control.

What I can't understand is what good are the Circles at targeting specific groups of people if everyone can add anyone else w/o prior permission? That sounds like a cesspool to me - spammer's heaven.
