On FB I saw a video about a young gal who thought she could multi-task - carry on conversations w/her girlfriends while texting, etc. She died in a horrible auto accident texting another young gal while driving. I blame the now accepted fallacy of "multi-tasking" as much as the other contributing factors. It's been neurologically proven to be impossible for the brain to do 2 things at once - it just switches back & forth between tasks.
