StartUp New Orleans, a peer-to-peer initiative designed to attract startups and entrepreneurs to New Orleans, has reached its goal of attracting five startups by the end of the year. Just six months old, StartUp reached its goal two months ahead of schedule. With five companies committed and many more interested, the effort has been successful in portraying New Orleans as the next entrepreneurial hub of the United States.

StartUp New Orleans is the brainchild of a group of local entrepreneurs with businesses in media, technology, culture, and entertainment. Through a national network of like-minded associates they have attracted a diverse group of companies to the city.

“Leveraging the city's unique qualities (rich culture, low costs, government incentives, talent pool), we are reinventing New Orleans in exciting ways. From fashion to financial tech, from renewable energy to music technology, this is the proverbial “creative class.” Each entrepreneur is passionate about the city's rebirth and, frankly, they are key to it. I have never seen this caliber of talent.” says Sean Cummings, a local developer and co-founder of StartUp New Orleans.

StartUp New Orleans is committed to ensuring that entrepreneurs seeking a home for their businesses see New Orleans as the prime location in which to build their futures. “What we're doing here in New Orleans is making this the city of choice for entrepreneurs,” said Nic Perkin, a co-founder of Start Up New Orleans and president of the New Orleans Exchange, a new technology startup, “If you're smart, motivated and have a track record of success, we want you here.”

Offering a mosaic of case studies of success and profiles of innovators whose ideas are changing not only the Greater New Orleans region for the better, but also making an impact on the global economy, the StartUp New Orleans website - www.startupneworleans.com - is the portal through which entrepreneurs can access information about establishing operations in New Orleans.
