Ronika,

Happily I have found my footing as an independent freelance writer. But...it was not always the case. I quit my last traditional job on a whim and decided to go indie. There were a lot of months when I stayed by the phone praying clients would call. Downtime was frequent.

I would recommend to anyone wanting to go the entrepreneur route or freelance to do it gradually. As they say..."don't quit your day job!"

Thanks for a great post!

Thanks, Yoni!

Although I gave my employers about 2 months notice when I decided to quit, I did not really have any real prospects lined up when I left my job. (Luckily my former boss retained me as a consultant for a few months.) I can completely relate to waiting by the phone (and computer) hoping for something to happen, and second guessing my decision to quit.

Luckily it has worked out for both of us :)
